THE EXPERIENCE OF TREATING MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS WITH PROLONGED COURSES OF HYPERBARIC OXYGENATION BY THE FEDERATION OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS THERAPY CENTERS

PREFACE

For the past fourteen years, Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centers throughout the UK have been providing hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis.

The Centers operate within the Federation of MS Therapy Centers who have followed the progress of patients over this period.  The Federation acknowledges the advice, guidance and support of its Medical Advisers on Hyperbaric Medicine, Dr David J D Perrins, MD, FRCS and Dr Philip B James, PhD, FFOM and this long-term study on the effect of hyperbaric oxygenation. This report is based on a paper read to the 12th International Congress on Hyperbaric Medicine held in Milan, Italy in September 1996. The Proceedings are ‘in press’.
